Research responsibilities (0.8 FTE) include (1) environmental physiology of container-grown ornamental foliage plants with an emphasis on environmental factors such as light and temperature and cultural practices such as container substrate, water, nutrients, and plant growth regulators influencing plant propagation, production, and interior performance and (2) somatic cell genetics and its application for producing genetic variation and for developing new cultivars. View listed publications.

Extension responsibilities (0.2 FTE) include two main focus areas: (1) integrated water and nutrient management for foliage plant production and (2) plant quality improvement during propagation, production, and interiorscape. Scientifically based information has been incorporated into various extension activities such as workshops, field days, and extension publications through coordinated effort with other state extension faculty and county extension agents.  View EDIS publications.
